Experiencing a different culture at Benidorm

Benidorm, for many, may be another tourist resort where they come and go after a few days or weeks of vacation. But it can be a wonderful experience of a totally different kind for the more bold and daring to stay longer; like a few years.

Many have considered and are indeed settled down in Benidorm, after years in their homeland such as Britain. You will not be home sick as there are the opera offerings and many cultural events that cause your heart to pulsate while experiencing life and culture in Benidorm.

Vibrant cultural life

Benidorm is a city that offers a rich and diverse culture to all who visit or stay there. It offers many high quality and entertaining cultural events that involve music, visual arts and theatre. You will never be short of operas, full orchestral concerts and chamber music recitals besides the many different and interesting local festivities, international film festival and art exhibitions. And all these are within accessible distance.

Today, the city is moving on to build a new cultural centre, called Villajoyosa Cultural Centre in La Nucia with a concert hall seating capacity of 600 and an auditorium that can seat 3000 outside.

Surrounding offerings

Located just thirty kilometers away, Alicante is a regional centre that boasts of a 19th century theatre that presents ballet, opera and drama. Valencia which is situated 140 km away, offers spectacular opera programs from its Reina Sofia opera house. Theatre performances, dance and arts are plentiful. Pop festivals are also available.

There are many places around Alicante. Besides Benidorm, there are many cities and towns such as La Nucia, Alfaz del Pi, Altea, Finestrat and Villajoyosa. You will be pleasantly satisfied with every musical event that you can attend as there will be plenty to fill your nights as all musical events are superb here. The distance is close for any traveling to make it an enjoyable night out.

Joachim Palomares play regularly with his ensemble and their unique Piazzolla tangos arrangements that entertain their audience; you can look forward to April where Altea’s opera week performs. There is also Les Nits festival in La Nucia which is totally engrossing and entertaining. With the mentioned soon-to-be opened cultural centre at Benidorm, There are hints of maison espagne Puccini and Steve Reich electrifying performances scheduled on the package tour brochures! These spellbound performances are a rare treat in other countries. Of course, these are doubly enjoyed with a pint of lager, an English breakfast and perhaps a northern comic.
