Valencia is the capital city of the province with the same name, a province that occupies the center of the coastline belonging to the Mediterranean Sea. This is one of the most picturesque provinces in Spain as it has a spectacular view towards the Valencia Gulf and it also has mountains that have their peaks covered with snow, green valleys and rich plains which stand among the most fertile in the country. When you say ‘’Valencia’’, you also say ‘’The Mediterranean Sea’’, as it seems like the entire culture of the city, its each and every corner identifies itself with the beauties of the Mediterranean.

Sightseeing in Valencia

When you decide to visit Valencia, make sure that you are packed with a lot of energy because you will definitely need it. Sightseeing is an important activity for Valencia as it is a city where history has left its fingerprints. You have to visit all the important buildings and monuments of the city if you want to reach its essence, so your visit has to be long enough in order for you to do all the things that you have to do while in Valencia. Sightseeing must start with the Old Quarter, which was defended by a high wall until the middle of the 19th century. The wall is not visible anymore, but several towers stand as proof of it such as the Serranos Tower or the Quart Tower. The district of Seu and the district of Xerea represent two of the places that you have to visit because you will find there the remains of the Roman buildings as well as the fingerprints of the
Arabs and their spectacular palaces.

The Mercat is another popular place in Valencia and it represents a district which was built as a result of the many trades that were realized in the area in the first centuries of the millennium. As a result of this, two of the villa costa brava buildings that can be found in the Mercat district play an important role in the nowadays commercial life of Valencia; one of these buildings is known as La Lonja and it displays a spectacular Gothic architectural style.
